He is an experienced and highly skilled professional with over 30 years of experience in Telecoms, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Financial Services, and IT. He holds a Master of Business in Information Technology (MBIT) and a Graduate Diploma in Computer Science from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Australia.

As Chief Technology Digital Officer at Hatton National Bank (HNB) Sri Lanka (2018-2022), Mr. Rohan Buultjens spearheaded the bank’s digital transformation, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency, improving customer experience, and driving significant cost savings through technology optimization. He played a pivotal role in developing the bank’s digital capabilities, guiding the introduction of advanced technological solutions that modernized banking operations. Additionally, Mr. Buultjens was instrumental in implementing robust cyber security policies, safeguarding the bank’s information assets and ensuring compliance with industry standards. His leadership was crucial in aligning IT with business objectives, delivering tangible value to HNB.

Prior to HNB, he was Managing Partner & Consultant at Tech Assured Ltd. (2016-2018), advising multiple industries on digital transformation and driving IoT-based connected home solutions. At ADNOC (2014-2016), Mr. Buultjens served as Head of IT Strategy, leading the organization’s digital business strategy and aligning IT with business goals for operational excellence.

Mr. Buultjens spent 20 years at Etisalat, UAE, where he rose to Vice President of Enterprise Architecture. He spearheaded numerous IT transformation projects, including BSS/OSS development for mobile startups in countries like Egypt, Nigeria, and Tanzania. He also established Etisalat’s technology outsourcing arm in India, significantly reducing software costs.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Buultjens worked at Australian National Line as Project Manager (1986-1993), where he managed financial applications and developed electronic data interchange systems.

Mr. Buultjens has worked globally, including in the UAE, Australia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, India, and Saudi Arabia, collaborating with top firms such as McKinsey, Mercer, and Accenture. His expertise spans emerging technologies like IoT, AI, Blockchain, and Big Data, consistently delivering results by aligning technology with business objectives
